KEEP YOUR BOSS CLOSE.

Abstract

10-PART TV SERIES

The Contractor himself is the central character in this ten-part original series which is at heart a satire on banking, the green investment market and big business in New York City.  The series looks at this world through The Contractor’s inexperienced, but wide-open eyes: the story is driven by the chaos of the banking world with all its deceptions and greed, and all the colourful characters circling within it.

It is irreverent and politically incorrect for good purpose – to expose the green investment and banking world, and its characters, to a level of detail only insiders normally see… biting satire at its best.

INTRODUCTION

modern investment banking

The Contractor” explores the push and pull factors in modern investment banking. Greed is still ever-present, but it’s now concealed by a veil of political correctness and a pathological obsession to be seen to be doing the right thing, rather than actually doing it. Rainmakers and middle management fodder patrol the trading floors as much as the bars and bistros of Manhattan in search of their prey.

The story is told through the lens of The Contractor, both a victim and beneficiary of the madness on Wall Street as it seeks to make even more money in a ‘sustainable’ way. He has no direct control over his own destiny, but feels compelled to tough it out for fear of letting his family down.

UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL MARKETS

Financial markets are huge business, and only those in the game truly know how they operate. This series aims to investigate, explain, expose and ridicule modern investment banking. Following the crash of 2007/8, Wall Street embarked on an exercise to become more open, transparent, equal and green. Or did it…? The corporate brochures certainly present it so, but under the surface it’s clear the same people are still making fortunes. As investors and the public rush to support green investment initiatives, how much do they actually know about what makes up these instruments?
